What is CLI?

The Classified Leadership Institute (CLI) is the largest, most comprehensive learning conference and professional Development opportunity aimed at California Community College Classified Professionals. CLI seeks to promote leadership training while strengthening the classified presence in participatory governance at the local and state level. The conference is open to all Classified Professionals working at the 114 California Community Colleges.

Why CLI?

Our annual conference brings Classified Professionals across the state to share their tools, models, and accomplishments that lead participants to increase their confidence, enhance professional skills, and knowledge of our California Community Colleges

Activities include both interactive and informational sessions presented by our fellow colleagues. The conference also provides ample time for networking. CLI is designed to meet the educational needs of today's California Community College Classified Professionals.

  • Recognition of Excellence in Servant Leadership: CLOSED

    This award recognizes a non-classified individual who is a strong advocate for Classified Professionals and Senates. Servant leaders support cross-functional collaboration, work with others to enrich the educational experience and recognize the value of Classified participation.     Think you have the best Classified Senate website in the State of California, then show us your stuff by entering the 2019 annual Classified Senate Website Competition.

  • Support 4CS Competition CLOSED

    Who wants a FREE registration for the Classified Leadership Institute? Who wants to beat Chaffey College, the winner the last three years? If so, this competition is for you. Get your senate, district, co-workers, friends and family to support your senate by donating to 4CS from July 1, 2018 – March 1, 2019. You can make a donation here.


  • Memento Exchange:

    The memento exchange is designed to increase attendee interaction with statewide colleagues, while taking part in a fun networking activity. Each person brings a small gift item from their college to exchange with another participant. It’s simple: receive a sticker during check-in and search for the other attendee with a matching sticker. Once found, you’ll exchange your memento items and become lifelong friends. If you have not successfully found your match by the Friday night awards dinner, not to worry, our emcee will assist in uniting you with your match!

  • Scavenger Hunt:

    Our take on the traditional scavenger hunt. You will be given a list of items and/or clues to complete before the end of sessions on Friday. Winner(s) will earn CLI Scavenger Hunt bragging rights! This activity is meant to engage your mind, increase attendee interaction, and provide healthy competition for all participants.

  • Graffiti Boards:

    Boards will be posted throughout the conference area providing a creative space for attendees to share messages, goals, business cards, attendee and/or speaker bios, and feedback. The CLI planning committee may utilize the boards to post reminders, share pictures from earlier events, host comments or contest submissions.

  • Spirit Contest

    "We've got spirit, yes we do! We've got spirit, how about you!?"
    In the spirit of fun competition, 4CS invites your group to battle it out for the coveted Spirit Stick or Spirit Twig Award! Make new friends and reconnect with old ones! Strut your stuff and earn points towards one of these awards. Please click here for contest rules.

    The Spirit Contest will be held on Thursday, June 13, 2019 during social hour. Feeling shy? Have a drink on us and enjoy the show!
