College of San Mateo

I started my association with California’s community colleges and College of San Mateo specifically in Fall 1997 when I enrolled in my first classes at CSM. At that time, I also became involved with CSM’s student government organization, which was my first introduction to participatory governance. After a few twists and turns, I made my way back to CSM and joined the College’s staff as what is now titled the Student Life and Leadership Assistant. On a daily basis, I have the pleasure of working with members of CSM’s student government, clubs and organizations, and numerous other students.

First as a student and then as a classified staff member, I have been very involved with CSM’s participatory governance processes. I have found great joy in working with our college’s faculty, administration, students, and my fellow classified staff to improve the College for everyone.

Over the past year, I have worked with my colleagues to re-establish the Classified Senate at College of San Mateo, and I am currently serving as Classified Senate President. I look forward to growing the Classified Senate as a vehicle to enhance the voice of classified staff in the College’s governance process. I look forward to serving as a member of the 4CS Board to help support local Senates across the state.
